Why consider KIN & KiDS for a psychological evaluation?

In 2012, after struggling to find a provider who met her high standards for client care, our director Charis Wong established the psychological testing and evaluations department at KIN & KiDS. Her vision was to create a service she could confidently refer her clients to, ensuring thorough and high-quality evaluations.

Since then, KIN & KiDS has grown to become the top choice in Malaysia for psychoeducational evaluations. We are widely recognized as the leading referral center for international schools, psychiatrists, paediatricians, neurologist, gynaecologist, family physicians, and care providers nationwide. Our clients are from across Malaysia and internationally, with many traveling from out of state and overseas—including the Maldives, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, China, and Singapore—to seek our testing and assessment services.

Our evaluation reports are internationally recognized and accepted for migration, exam accommodations, government-funded services, embassy claims, and selective gifted programs. We are also proud to be on the panel of approved psychologists for several international organizations.

Our Approach

Our goal is to help clients understand themselves and find effective solutions to their challenges. Our psychologists adhere to professional standards and stay updated with the latest research and best practices. We use a wide range of reliable and validated assessment tools, always prioritizing the newest versions based on professional consensus that psychologists should updated to the latest test revision within a year of publication. Many of our psychological tests are now scored via specialized software to reduce calculation errors.

We provide psychological evaluations for children and adults, ages 2 to 70, using a whole-person approach. Our assessments are tailored to each client, focusing on individual strengths and vulnerabilities. Rather than providing generic reports, we deliver integrative findings and clear, actionable recommendations.

What to Expect

  1. Enquiry
When you contact us, our clinical assistant will reach out to understand your concerns and answer any questions. If you’ve been referred by a medical provider or school, we can also communicate with them to clarify the referral. We then prepare a customized assessment plan and provide an estimated quote.
  2. Clinical Interview and Screening
During your first visit, our psychologist will review your concerns and gather relevant background information, including family, medical, and educational history. Screening tests may be administered as needed. Together, we’ll discuss next steps, such as proceeding with a comprehensive evaluation or considering other services.
  3. The Evaluation
Our evaluations may include clinical observations, standardized testing, interviews, questionnaires, and review of records. Evaluations typically take place over two or three sessions, each lasting several hours. We integrate and interpret findings thoughtfully, considering your unique context and culture, and provide diagnoses when appropriate.
  4. Feedback and Report
Within six weeks of completing the evaluation, we’ll meet with you to discuss the findings and personalized recommendations. We encourage questions and offer child-friendly feedback for younger clients. You’ll receive a clear, comprehensive written report with practical, evidence-based suggestions for moving forward.

Our aim is to make the evaluation process positive and meaningful, so you leave with clarity and hope—not confusion.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
