Charis Wong: Gifted and Talent Evaluator

KIN & KiDS congratulates our founder and director, Charis Wong, upon completing her Graduate Certification in Gifted & Talent Education from the Montclair State University with outstanding results!

Charis does strength-based evaluations and consults with parents and teachers in addressing the unique needs and concerns of their high ability children/advanced learners. She especially enjoys engaging with twice-exceptional (2E) children, i.e. children who possess high ability in one or more cognitive or talent domain, along with one or more disability/disorder.

"Graduates of the Program are prepared to not only teach classes in Gifted and Talented Education, but also to create, maintain, and assess gifted and talented programs in K-12 schools as well as in out-of-school settings."

Dr. Pablo P. L. Tinio, Professor and Coordinator, Graduate Certificate in Gifted and Talented Education, Montclair State University

The National Association of Gifted Children defines giftedness as learners “with gifts and talents perform - or who have the capability to perform - at higher levels compared to others of the same age, experience, and environment in one or more domains” (NAGC, 2019). This ability can be in processing/understanding of information, intellectual ability, creativity or another domain or skill. Charis strongly believes that giftedness is a neurodivergent ability that exists regardless of one's socioeconomic status, race, gender, disability, or other external factors.
