Vivian Puah

Intern Therapist

My counselling work has focused on adolescents and young adults with concerns related to their personal, academic, professional and family life. As a clinical intern with KIN & KiDS, I see clients under the supervision of Charis Wong, the director of KIN & KiDS and Frances Lim, a clinical psychologist. I am also currently working with university students at CAREERsense at HELP University. In addition, I am conducting group counselling sessions with children at a shelter.  I have worked as a tuition teacher for elementary school children, as well as facilitated school holiday camps for children on emotional management, communication skills, personal safety and self-esteem development. My experience with children has given me insight into their world.

I have also obtained further graduate-level accredited training in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) to enhance my knowledge and skills in working with children. I believe that play is the language for children and children can express themselves more fully through play.

I adopt the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach, which focuses on helping individuals to understand their underlying thoughts in order to develop a more positive outlook. Setting goals, discovering your inner strengths and developing effective coping strategies are part of the counselling process that you will experience. I am also guided by the person-centered approach to provide you a safe and supportive environment that would enable you to change, grow and achieve your goals.

I speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay.
