Chan Hui Sian

Clinical Assistant/ Office Manager

I first came to KIN & KIDS as an intern three years ago when I was still an undergraduate student in Psychology.  I have observed many clients coming in to therapy for the first time feeling anxious and apprehensive.  I realized that coming in to seek professional therapy for personal issues requires a lot of courage and trust. As a neutral observer, I have also observed clients go through a change process over time; often they appear less agitated, more relief and more at peace, as if some heavy load has been lifted up from them.

As someone interested in the mental health profession, my undergraduate internship at KIN & KiDS has provided me with a valuable and insightful experience on the process of therapy and how therapy works.  I continued to return to KIN & KiDS during my semester breaks to assist the Director, Charis Wong, at KIN & KIDS.  I have seen KIN & KiDS grown from a practice in a tiny one room office to an established practice of 11 mental health practitioners with two offices in the Klang Valley.

I have a double Honours degree in Psychology and am planning to pursue graduate studies in psychology one day. Currently, I work as the clinical intake coordinator cum clinical assistant at KIN & KiDS, and assist the Director in managing the practice.

The team at KIN & KiDS continue to inspire me with their commitment and dedication in their clinical work. Indeed I am privileged to be part of a team who consciously do their best to adhere to the standards of professional ethical practice of their profession.

I will probably be the first person whom you will communicate with when you first contact us. I will do an initial consult with you for about 10 minutes to get a better understanding of your concerns and obtain some basic information. My goal is to answer your initial queries, identify the service that you require, and, together with the Director, help you find a therapist in our team who would make a good fit for you.

I speak English, Mandarin, Malay, and Cantonese.

I look forward to be of service to you and to welcome you to KIN & KiDS.
